No Saints Parade For Me

Well I know one person who won’t be at the Saints parade this evening and that’s me! I’m just not a big parade person period. When I first moved down here it was fun and everything, but now it’s just more of a pain in the ass. Instead of thinking about how awesome it’s going to be I’m too busy thinking about all the ridiculous amounts of traffic and drunk people. Not my cup of tea. I will be at home, doing school work, and sitting next to a cozy fire. Sounds like a good deal to me! Than tomorrow afternoon Layla and I are going apartment hunting. That’s going to be fun, but we have to try to do it on our own. Both sides of our family have offered to help us make a down payment on a house (I have some saved up as well) but we don’t want to spread ourselves too thin. A house sounds nice but you need furniture for that house, utilities, there’s a baby on the way etc. It’s just kind of out of our price range. I’m hoping my friend may be able to help us out a little. His parents rent out a small house right across the street from where they live and who knows maybe in a few months the tenants might move out. So far this year they’ve had maybe 4 people move in and out so who knows. We’ve told them we’re looking so just keep your fingers crossed. It’s 2 bedrooms (very small bedrooms) and one bath with a nice decent sized living area and kitchen nook not anything to spectacular, but it’s very clean and tidy and in a nice neighborhood so I can’t complain. Until then we’ll keep looking.

Superbowl Sunday

Since moving down to New Orleans I found myself becoming a huge huge Saints fan! I can’t believe this year I actually get to participate in Superbowl weekend for real! I mean all the other years I kind of just watched it alone not to exciting, but since we’re going this year I’m all hyped up! My grandparents are throwing a huge party at their house so that’s where I’ll be. Than on Tuesday win or lose they’re having a big parade downtown and I’m gonna be there! The city right now is just so excited and you can definitely feel it. This weekend is going to be amazing no matter what!

So my girlfriend and I recently found out that we are expecting! We’re absolutely thrilled, but of course I have my general concerns. I know it’s probably too soon to be worrying about such a thing, but I fear raising a child when I have epilepsy. I know sometimes it tends to just go away, but what if it doesn’t? Can I really raise a baby knowing it’ll be safe around me? Well regardless I am very excited as I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be here about to have a family of my own. It’s mind boggling what a year can do.

It’s Been An Eternity

Well just a year, but you know things happen. I’m in school now majoring in biology which is pretty snazzy if you ask me. I have been 7 months free of seizures which has been a complete blessing. I’m very fortunate that my medications have worked so well, but it’s hard to keep track sometimes as I am very forgetful. Being that said it meant I could get my drivers license back with the approval of my doctor so I’m on the road again! Woot! My grandma isn’t too keen on the idea of me driving as she knows how quickly a seizure can come on and she worries I’ll have one behind the wheel and you know. I try not to think about that too much as my doctor says sometimes stress can be a contributing factor to triggering a seizure so I try to just tune her out as much as possible. Since I am back on the road my grandparents thought it would be a nice present for me and bought me a brand new Camaro. It’s hot black on black just how I like it. I am dating a wonderful girl and have been for about a year now. Her name is Layla and she is just wonderful I couldn’t have asked for a better girl. Well that’s my life right now in a nut shell. It’s pretty boring and not exciting at all so I am curious as to how I got 12,000 hits on my blog, but thank you anyways!

So I was checking the stats to my story, which is now 23 chapters long I am happy to say and I notice that I have a new review. I’m always happy to get them, but this one kind of struck a nerve with me. Out of allllllll the chapters I’ve written the only thing this person could find to pick at me for was…a comma! This to me is someone who has zero time on their hands that you can read so much and that’s the only thing you take away from it. Not that the story is any good (which at the end they said they liked it) but that the commas are where THEY don’t think they should be. Now to my knowledge of Microsoft Word (at least on my version for Mac) it corrects sentence errors as well. Sentence fragments, a semi-colon should go here, etc. I re-read my stories over before posting them and I just think it’s lame of you to leave me a review about a stupid comma! What? Do you have something against commas? Did they torture you when you were in grammar school? Did they haunt you in your dreams? It’s a stupid comma! Get over it! On a happier note…guess who is going to be getting their hands on a new Canon 50D soon? I am so excited! I have been looking to upgrade my little Rebel XT for quite some time now and was actually going to make the big leap and get the Canon 5D Mark II but after seeing and hearing about these so called “black dots” that seem to mysteriously appear in some of the pictures and also the fact that my lenses would not be compatible with it, I decided to just slow my row and go with a major / minor amatuer upgrade. Seems fair to me. While the 5D Mark II is tempting I have to remind myself I am still very much a rookie and I need to take baby steps and not leap right into the big guns. My photography teacher and his little Rebel XSI are totally jealous. Ha ha. Random pointless entry, but I felt the need to update you guys on my life and the comma lady kicked me into updating.

Today the back of my mouth has just been aching terribly. It feels really swollen and I thought maybe I had chewed something to hard or something. Me being the gross person I am shoved my hand in my mouth trying to see if maybe I got some foot stuck between my tooth and my gum (don’t you just hate that?) and what I felt I didn’t expect. Shocker of the century I have a wisdom tooth coming in! I checked it out in the bathroom mirror and you can see a little white dot where the tooth is emerging. Unbelievable! It really hurts though and I feel like I almost can’t close my mouth all the way. I guess I’ll stick to soft foods for a bit until it eases up. Hooray though I have “wisdom” now! LoL! Also I hope everyone had a great New Years!

It’s Finally Over

The holiday’s are coming to an end. Now all we need is New Year’s and than not another Holiday until Easter…or if you live in New Orleans than it’s Mardi Gras. I’ve just been so busy writing and taking pictures. I actually ended up getting a new lense for my camera which I am sooooo excited about! It’s a 55-250mm and I got it because it has the Image Stabilizer. It’s a big help because I don’t have to do as much it’s pretty much all automatic, but the pictures come out so amazing. I also went ahead and bought some lense filters. It really does improve the way my photograph’s look, but nothing too spectacular. That’s the nicest Christmas gift I think I recieved. Other than that I got some cash, a gift card, and some clothes. The typical stuff I also went ahead and changed up my layout since Christmas is over and I was getting really annoyed with my layout. That tends to happen a lot. I promise this coming New Year I will write more because I know I have been slacking off, but I will I promise! See you all soon and I hope you all had a nice holiday!

Upgrades!

Lots of upgrading going on recently. We have the new WordPress 2.7, which I am still getting use to, but it seems pretty cool. I also got an email on my blackberry curve that the update for it’s software had finally been released! Hooray! Nothing to spectacular I have to say I mean yeah hooray for getting video, but other than that nothing to impressive. They updated the browser and stuff so kudos to updates this week!
