And your problem is?

So I was checking the stats to my story, which is now 23 chapters long I am happy to say and I notice that I have a new review. I’m always happy to get them, but this one kind of struck a nerve with me. Out of allllllll the chapters I’ve written the only thing this person could find to pick at me for was…a comma! This to me is someone who has zero time on their hands that you can read so much and that’s the only thing you take away from it. Not that the story is any good (which at the end they said they liked it) but that the commas are where THEY don’t think they should be. Now to my knowledge of Microsoft Word (at least on my version for Mac) it corrects sentence errors as well. Sentence fragments, a semi-colon should go here, etc. I re-read my stories over before posting them and I just think it’s lame of you to leave me a review about a stupid comma! What? Do you have something against commas? Did they torture you when you were in grammar school? Did they haunt you in your dreams? It’s a stupid comma! Get over it! :-) On a happier note…guess who is going to be getting their hands on a new Canon 50D soon? I am so excited! I have been looking to upgrade my little Rebel XT for quite some time now and was actually going to make the big leap and get the Canon 5D Mark II but after seeing and hearing about these so called “black dots” that seem to mysteriously appear in some of the pictures and also the fact that my lenses would not be compatible with it, I decided to just slow my row and go with a major / minor amatuer upgrade. Seems fair to me. While the 5D Mark II is tempting I have to remind myself I am still very much a rookie and I need to take baby steps and not leap right into the big guns. My photography teacher and his little Rebel XSI are totally jealous. Ha ha. Random pointless entry, but I felt the need to update you guys on my life and the comma lady kicked me into updating.

It’s Finally Over

The holiday’s are coming to an end. Now all we need is New Year’s and than not another Holiday until Easter…or if you live in New Orleans than it’s Mardi Gras. I’ve just been so busy writing and taking pictures. I actually ended up getting a new lense for my camera which I am sooooo excited about! It’s a 55-250mm and I got it because it has the Image Stabilizer. It’s a big help because I don’t have to do as much it’s pretty much all automatic, but the pictures come out so amazing. I also went ahead and bought some lense filters. It really does improve the way my photograph’s look, but nothing too spectacular. That’s the nicest Christmas gift I think I recieved. Other than that I got some cash, a gift card, and some clothes. The typical stuff :-D I also went ahead and changed up my layout since Christmas is over and I was getting really annoyed with my layout. That tends to happen a lot. I promise this coming New Year I will write more because I know I have been slacking off, but I will I promise! See you all soon and I hope you all had a nice holiday!

I Went An Entire Day Without Posting!

That is quite an accomplishment on my part, but I had good reasoning behind it. Being that my right hand is now bandaged with gauze, medical tape, scotch tape on top of that (to hold it all together you know what I mean?) and band aids to hold that together, it’s safe to say my right hand is completely unusable. I kind of wish the burn had been in a better place like on the top of my hand, band aids go easily on that area, but no I had to burn my bumpy knuckle that band-aids give a big “Fuck you!” to. It’s o.k. though because it is starting to look a lot better and the blister is healing up just fine. For the record…toaster ovens will always win the fight and next time I will be a lot more careful. That’s about all the news I have for now aside from the fact that today is PAYDAY (SWEET!) and I finally get my new camera. I’m a gadget freak if you haven’t guessed by now so I’m sure I’ll be stalking my family for the next few days making videos and getting them to take cool awesome pictures.

I Hate When…

People leave crappy reviews on an item they purchase and the only real reason they have for not liking it is something stupid like they didn’t know how to use it. I’m going to be purchasing a Sony Cybershot DSC-W170 and like everyone else I like to read up on what I’m buying and look at the specs. I have an older Cybershot that’s 6 megapixels and it works great, but it’s definitely time to upgrade. The new camera will have 10.1 mp but what really sold me was the in camera editing features. I’m a tech geek so reading those just made me excited. I wanted to read the reviews so I scrimmaged through them for the most part it got excellent reviews, but as always there’s always that one sour note in the bunch. He complained that there was no manual mode and that was pretty much his only arguement. It’s a point and shoot what do you expect? It’s not going to go in the kitchen and make you a burger with cheese on it! Most people don’t sit there and tweak their point and shoots because the name says it all! You just point and shoot! If you really want to have that much power over your image than go buy an SLR than you can be a camera God! Besides I find that Program mode does all that junk anyways and it was just such a pointless review. It didn’t make me not want the camera any less and I think 10 great reviews and 1 single complaint isn’t enough to change my mind. Go Sony! Oh and my grandpa just called and told me Circuit City filed Ch. 11 bankruptcy. I bet all those Geeks at Best Buy are throwing a party now! :-D

Photography Is Not Cheap

I was browsing through Amazon looking for some lenses for my SLR and holy crap! Talk about expensive! The cheapest I found were Sigma  lenses I can get a nice 300mm one for about $200 bucks and they’ve gotten slightly good reviews problem is…I don’t think I need anything that huge! 300mm is a lot I mean the lense I use right now only goes to about 55mm and I have heard some people have such trouble using the lense they have to resort to using a tripod. I am not toting a tripod with me everywhere I go I’ll look like the biggest freak of nature and I know people will be like “Oh look at that kid with his tripod I bet he thinks he’s big stuff!” Well I do think I am the shiz, but not that much :-D I’m also looking into getting a new point and shoot but the one I want is way out of my price range. Ugh! I want the Olympus 1010, but $300 is a little steep for me. That’s like more than half of my paycheck and I have bills to pay. Yes I at 17 have bills. It’s called my Apple iMac and my T-Mobile bill, which thank God it expires in January! I will not be signing up with them again my Sidekick never worked worth a shit and I went back to AT&T. I hate how expensive things are today, but at least I am working and making some money. I have a lot more independence than most kids my age and for that I am sooo thankful. Hooray for being able to pay for my own stuff!

Something Amazing

I’m typing this on my iPod so bear with me. Lots of exciting things happened today. My little “sisters” were born which is bittersweet in the sense that we’re adopting them. Their mother wants nothing to do with them and she actually just up and walked out of the hospital just leaving them there. My grandma is with them now and despite the amount of drugs their mother ingested into her system they’re both healthy for the most part. Harper is the biggest weighing in at 5 lbs. 14 oz. and Emma is 5 lbs. even, but she’s having some trouble breathing so she’s in the N.I.C.U. They should me coming home in a few days. Technically they’re my adopted nieces but who cares. After I finished visiting I went home and there was a message on the answering machine from my friend asking if I could shoot some pictures of her this weekend in the French Quarter. I’m super stoked that she liked my photography enough that she’d personally call to ask. Right now I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT which is not top of the line but I love it. Speaking of love have I mentioned Cerena? Ah she’s just wonderful and I don’t think I’ve ever liked someone as much as her. She gives me butterflies. :-) Today was just perfect to sum it up. I’m absolutely loving life today!
